Lynn, Johnson Bixby

What is your role in the Ripple Companies?

My role is  Portfolio Manager at Johnson Bixby.

What does a typical day look like for you?

A typical day starts with listening to Bloomberg radio on my commute to work. This, in addition to other reading, helps keep me broadly informed of dynamics affecting capital markets over time and also helps me know if I need be aware of anything on that specific day. Once in the office, reviewing my calendar and then emails is typically first. Often I attend a market call with one of the thought leaders we follow, like Capital Group, JP Morgan or Charles Schwab which helps me stay informed on factors driving stock and bond prices. These calls also help inform asset allocation changes we make. From there some of almost every day is spent trading accounts, either investing new money, raising cash or repositioning accounts for clients. After market close, 1 pm PST, I prioritize working on planner requests on specific clients scenarios, following up with a clients by email or phone, and reviewing model positioning and performance. Depending on the day, I could be researching and writing a blog article or preparing to rebalance model portfolios.

What aspect of your work makes you happiest?

While not stress free (what role is?!) I genuinely love most aspects of my work. While staying informed on market dynamics, modeling and trading client accounts, or writing a solid blog article makes me happy, I get the most joy out of engaging with planners working on specific client requests or working directly with a client and instilling confidence that their investments are being monitored and managed well.

When are you at your best?

I am at my best when I have made a planners job a little easier, a client a little calmer or have cooked something that my family enjoys (and they do the dishes)!
